MONTEVIDEO, URUGUAY!

We arrived this morning in Montevideo, Uruguay and Mike blessed us with his presence at breakfast!  (He brought his radio voice to the table—down at least two octaves from all the coughing!)  We were thrilled to be a “party of four” once again!

We watched the early birds leave the ship (our tour didn’t start until 11:00) to this…

We rode a tour bus around Montevideo’s Independence Square and Parliament Offices.  The tour guide was great, however, he talked SO FAST that Patte and I couldn’t remember a thing he said!  (We probably wouldn’t have anyway!)  Mike was the one that caught the name’s of the buildings and took the pictures (as he WAS sitting on the left side of the bus where everything of interest happened to be)!

Here was a statue of Jose Antigas, the liberator of Uruguay!  (Thank you, Mike!)

This building reminded us of the Burj Al Arab in Dubai!
(I took the next few pics with no idea of their significance!)

This was their stadium, which will be renovated in time for the 2030 World Cup (or something like that)!

Uruguay’s flag!

This was the Parliament Building.

The street art was divine!

We arrived at the Carnival Museum, with absolutely no expectations!

Our tour guide walked us through parts of the museum and then led us into a room to see a MURGAS, a show that is performed during Carnival reflecting the feelings of the people!  During an Murgas, anyone can complain about anything!

It was an incredible show and the perfect depiction of what their Carnival is all about!  Carnival in Uruguay lasts 40 days—all of February and some of March, depending on rain.  WOW!

Our tour ended after the show and we were within walking distance of a great shopping/cafe area!  It was magical!

Jonathan had texted us suggesting we try a Chivito!
We looked it up and found this…

…and it wasn’t long before we saw this!

We enjoyed the local beer, Patricia, (she was HUGE 🤣),

as well as our very first Chivito!  Thanks, Jonathan, for the recommendation!

Patte and Mike gave it a two thumbs up!

As we strolled back on the green path to the ship, would you believe, there was a Hard Rock shop right along the way?  We had to stop, of course!  (John was a happy camper!)

We enjoyed “Happy Hour” in the Living Room before dinner.  And dinner was, once again, magnificent!

Our wait staff sang Happy Birthday to John (a day early as we have reservations at the Italian Restaurant tomorrow night).  It was our last time being served by Alejandro, Mei and Santi.  They were THE BEST!

We watched the Farewell Show later in the evening, followed by a Beatles Tribute, which was AMAZING!
It was a great day in Uruguay!!!

BUENAS NOCHES, everyone!
