BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOHN!!!

Happy BIG 7-0 Birthday, Dieds!  (Yea, you caught up!)

Even Bhari from Bali (one of our two room stewards) came out singing “Happy Birthday, Mr. John!”

We woke up this morning in Buenos Aires, to clouds, rain, shipping containers and the Oceania ship that has been traveling along with us docked beside us!  Rain—BUMMER!  But Buenos Aires—YEA!

We sat in the Explorer’s Lounge drinking coffee before we ventured back to our room to begin packing.  And before we knew it, it was time for our afternoon tour.  The shuttle bus we were on maneuvered through stacks and stacks of containers!

Our first stop was to an archaeological site (Patte and I wanted to stay outside and browse the street art!) called
El Zanjon de Granados.  We were both surprised—it was an AMAZING tour!

After we walked through the different levels of the house, our guide led us to the basement where we were given a “snack” of empanadas and wine.  It was delightful!

After we finished, we were guided into another room, which was AMAZING in and of itself.  That’s where John mentioned the word “tango”!

He was correct!  Three couples appeared and entertained us all with a beautiful tango!  It was a wonderful ending to a great tour of an archaeological site!  (I can hardly believe I used those words!)

Back on the bus, we headed towards our second destination,

La Boca, a colorful artsy area.  We LOVED IT (but only had a half hour to walk around)!

We decided at the end of that short half hour—we will return!

Back on the bus,

our final stop was the Main Square in Buenos Aires, where we saw many iconic buildings.

It was a lovely tour and we lucked out weather-wise!  It remained overcast, however, we did not get a drop of rain!

Back on the ship, we had to quickly change for our last Happy Hour where we toasted the Birthday Boy!  (I agree—weirdly staged photo!)

Our final ship dinner was as tasty as ever!

And John got his very own birthday cake while being serenaded by the waiters and waitresses.

It was a VERY good day!  It was our last night to sleep on the ship (😢) and we weren’t rocking (darn it) since we were docked!

BUENAS NOCHES, everyone!
